Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), worry that conservative populism is gaining sway within the party. These worries coincide with rising mistrust of government institutions and mainstream media.   Throughout President Biden's term in office, mistrust for fundamental institutions has persisted, especially in light of the DOJ's apparent complicity in the corruption of the Biden family while simultaneously prosecuting former President Donald Trump.   The Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government was established in response to these growing worries.   It has since attempted to expose the FBI and DOJ's malfeasance.   According to a story from The Hill, "GOP senators are saying they're being increasingly confronted by constituents who buy into discredited conspiracy theories," citing a stolen election in 2020 and the federal government encouraging the January 6 Capitol demonstration as two examples of such "conspiracies."
