(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – On July 4, Angel Studios' "Sound of Freedom" overtook Disney's critically acclaimed "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" in terms of sales.
The action film starring Jim Caviezel is based on the true story of former federal agent Tim Ballard and his mission to save children from human trafficking.
The movie earned almost $14 million through "pay it forward" and traditional box office purchases on its opening day, taking the top spot at the box office.
According to reports, the movie recovered almost its entire budget on its first release day.
"Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" had roughly 2,000 more cinemas and a $295 million budget, yet "Sound of Freedom" outperformed it.
On July 4, the franchise sequel earned $11 million and finished in second place.
The film received an A+ CinemaScore from critics and a 100% rating on the website Rotten Tomatoes.
